Comparison: Adjectives

Comparative:

compares two things, usually in combination with 'than'.
My sister is taller than me.

Superlative:

compares three or more things, usually in combination with 'the'.
She is the tallest of them all

How to form comparisons:

one syllable adjectives such as: old young..

Add -er (comparative) or -est  (superlative)
old/older/oldest

Two syllable adjectives:

When the stress is on the second syllable add -er or -est

When the stress is on the first syllable put 'more' (comparative) or 'most' (superlative) before the adjective.
most silent/ more silent .

Adjectives with three syllables  put 'more'  or 'most' before the adjective.

General exceptions:

good-better-best
bad-worse-worst
much/many -more-most
far-futher-furthest
